Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Seryno mobile and web applications (the “Service”). By creating an account or accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Mandatory Disclaimer — Self-Help Tool, Not Therapy

Seryno is a self-guided self-help, personal-growth, and educational tool. It is NOT a medical device, NOT therapy, and NOT a substitute for professional care. Seryno does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapy, counseling, or medication.

• Self-guided tool only. Seryno uses Artificial Intelligence to offer automated, educational self-reflection exercises based on concepts from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Outputs are automated suggestions for self-reflection and do not constitute clinical judgment.
• No professional relationship. Neither Seryno, its operators, nor the underlying AI models are physicians, psychologists, or licensed clinicians. No doctor–patient or therapist–client relationship is created by using the Service.
• Emergencies. Seryno is not a crisis tool. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, severe distress, or thoughts of self-harm or suicide, stop using the app and seek immediate help. Call your local emergency number (112 in the EU, 988 in the US), contact a local crisis line, or go to the nearest emergency service. You can find international helplines at findahelpline.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use Seryno. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your Content and Licence

You retain ownership of the content you enter into Seryno (your journal entries, logs, and inputs). To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, transmit, and process your content solely to provide the Service to you (including transmitting text to our AI processor to generate REBT suggestions and syncing your data across your devices). We do not use your content for advertising or to train third-party AI models.

4. AI Features and Accuracy

• You are interacting with an automated system. REBT suggestions are generated by third-party generative AI models.
• AI outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected (“hallucinations”). We do not guarantee the accuracy, suitability, or efficacy of any suggestion. Use your own judgment and do not rely on the Service for any decision affecting your health or safety.

5. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Billing

Seryno offers a limited free tier and a paid premium tier via auto-renewable subscription.

• Processing. Purchases are processed by third-party platforms, including Apple In-App Purchase, Google Play Billing, Stripe, and RevenueCat.
• Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date through your app store account (Apple/Google) or, for web purchases, through your account settings. You can manage or cancel your subscription there at any time.
• Refunds. For purchases made through Apple or Google, refunds are governed by that store’s policies and must be requested through them. For purchases made directly via our web checkout (Stripe), contact info@seryno.com; such purchases are subject to applicable consumer law (see Section 6).

6. EU Consumer Right of Withdrawal (Web/Stripe Purchases)

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA and purchase a subscription directly from us (not via an app store), you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. Because the Service is digital content/services supplied immediately, by starting to use the paid features during this period you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed; for partially performed services you may owe a proportionate amount. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights available to you under the law of your country of residence.

7. Acceptable Use and Account Security

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
• You agree not to use the Service to enter or transmit illegal, abusive, threatening, or malicious content, or to attempt to disrupt or misuse the Service.
• As noted in our Privacy Policy, please do not enter personal identifiers about yourself or others into your entries.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operators of Seryno shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any reliance on the app’s features, automated insights, or timers. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any mandatory consumer protections.

9. Modifications and Termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, or update these Terms, at any time. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice through the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using and delete your account at any time.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes may be brought in the competent courts of Portugal. However, if you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, and you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.
